STEPHEN Allison is constantly
writing in Hear All Sides telling us
what a wonderful world it would be
if he and the UK Independence
Party were to rule. Thankfully, the
public are not as delusional as he is.
He wrote (HAS, Aug 22): "There
have been many examples of how
people don't like outsiders dictating
to them what they can and cannot
do." He said he was cross when
anyone does such a thing.
Can Councillor Allison explain
then how this view sits with him
being a district councillor for the
Headland in Hartlepool when he
lives in Hurworth Burn in
Easington up his one-mile long
private drive?
Steve Turner, Hartlepool.

The issue of where Coun. Allison lives has been discussed ad-nauseum on the High-Tax Hartlepool website. I am not quite sure what Steve Turner is trying to achieve by his letter. However if he is not happy about the situation he should take his complaint up with the Hartlepool Borough Solicitor. Before he does he might like to know that Steven Allison is a Hartlepool Borough Councillor for the St. Hilda Ward not the Headland and he lives approx.1 mile from the Hartlepool boundary. He qualifies as a councillor as a result of business interests in Hartlepool, a point which was accepted by the Hartlepool Returning Officer 18 months ago.

everal inaccuracies in Mr Tuner’s post.
Firstly Hartlepool is a Unitary Authority not a District Council. Secondly I am a Ward Councillor for St.Hilda, there is no "Headland Ward" St.Hilda includes Central Estate, Bakers Mead, West View, a section of Powlet Road and the Headland. Thirdly, Hurworth Burn is in Sedgefield, not Easington and finally my “private drive” is approximately 20 yards long.
Isn't it interesting that when people like Mr Turner have no answers to any of the points I make then they resort to personal attacks completely irrelevant to the matter under discussion. It is this type of childish name calling that brings politics even further into disrepute in the public eye. Mr Turner might just as well have said his dad could fight my dad; it’s about the level of his "argument" against my points.
