Handel: Dettingen Te Deum (Hyperion CDA67678) The Choir of
Trinity College, Cambridge, under director Stephen Layton, give a dazzling account
of one of Handel's most glorious works. It was written to celebrate King George
II's triumphal return from the Battle of Dettingen in 1743 and showcases the
composer's range and imagination.
Nielsen: The Complete Piano Music (Hyperion CDA67591/2) Pianist
Martin Roscoe presents Nielsen's complete piano music, embracing the full range
of the composer's output. Nielsen's idiosyncratic and inventive music is lovingly
conveyed in this recording.

This is surely one of the finest releases of RVW's sweeping choral works, offering
nearly five hours of pleasurable listening. The box set includes soloists Thomas
Allan, Bryn Terfel, and Judith Howarth and various orchestras. A fitting way
to mark the 50th anniversary of RVW's death.
Martinu: The Complete Music for Violin and Orchestra Vol 3 (Hyperion
CDA67673) Violinist Bohuslav Matousek with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra
in the third volume of this compelling series.
